Worked examples for RSL Vocational Portfolio Development — try each before revealing the answer

When developing a portfolio for an art and design course, which approach best demonstrates your skills and growth?

Answer: Including a range of work that shows experimentation, development, and final outcomes, with annotations explaining your process

A strong portfolio shows not just the final product but the journey: initial ideas, experimentation, development, and reflection. Annotations help the viewer understand your thinking and decision-making, which is crucial for demonstrating skills and growth.

When developing a Fine Art portfolio, why is it important to document your creative process?

Answer: To show the development of ideas and technical skills over time

Documentation of process (sketches, experiments, reflections) demonstrates how ideas evolve and how technical proficiency is built. It is a key assessment criterion in OCR Fine Art, not just a time log or sales tool.
