- Active Transport
- The movement of substances against a concentration gradient (from low to high concentration) using energy (ATP) and carrier proteins.Pearson Edexcel

- Codon
- A sequence of three adjacent nucleotides on an mRNA molecule that codes for a specific amino acid.Pearson Edexcel
D
- Degenerate code
- A feature of the genetic code where more than one codon can code for the same amino acid.Pearson Edexcel

- Fluid Mosaic Model
- The model describing the cell membrane as a fluid phospholipid bilayer with embedded proteins that can move laterally.Pearson Edexcel

- Genotype
- The genetic constitution of an organism, describing the alleles it possesses.Pearson Edexcel

- Phenotype
- The observable characteristics of an organism, resulting from its genotype and interaction with the environment.Pearson Edexcel
S
- Semi-conservative replication
- The process of DNA replication where each new DNA molecule consists of one original template strand and one newly synthesised strand.Pearson Edexcel
